Council of State blocks SUC [here]
The Council of State (Shoura) has issued a decision to block the standard unified contract (SUC) issued by caretaker Minister of Labor (MoL) Lamia Yammine for migrant domestic workers, following a lawsuit filed by the Syndicate of the Owners of Workers Recruitment Agencies in Lebanon (SORA). The rationale for this, which was accepted by the council, was that the rights of the agency owners would be violated by the SUC and what it entails, specifically in breaching the right to “free contracting”.
