A group of 12 Ivorian women and one child finally traveled home on Tuesday November 24 with the support of ARM after demanding to be evacuated since May. More women will travel soon as well.

More Ethiopian Workers Evacuated [here]

56 Ethiopian women traveled home on November 26 as part of the mass evacuation plan.

A video of Ethiopian women traveling home from Beirut’s airport went viral in which they were mocking the ways employers treat migrant domestic workers, and sarcastically inviting them to switch roles and go to Ethiopia.

An article by ARM was published in the Sri Lankan news website Bakamoono on the situation of Sri Lankan domestic workers stuck in Lebanon and the obstacles preventing them from going home.

Bsharri Municipality Calls for Lebanese Residents to Replace “Foreign Labor” [here]

Following the killing of a Lebanese man in the northern town of Bsharri by a Syrian resident, the town’s municipality announced a call to replace Syrian workers with Lebanese in the context of a massive wave of expelling, prosecuting and attacking Syrian residents.

New App for Ethiopian Migrants [here]

A new application was launched by the Ethiopian government in collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO) for Ethiopian citizens to have access to information on migration and job opportunities abroad, in addition to information on reintegration upon return to Ethiopia.

Campaign by LAU Students about Kafala [here]

A group of students at the Lebanese American University published a video of interviews with Lebanese and migrant women to raise awareness on the Kafala system, emphasizing the lack of freedom for migrant domestic workers.
